AN EBONIZED TEAKWOOD CARVED ROUND TABLE (18519)
Colonial India, Late 19th to Early 20th century
A Small ebonized teakwood carved table that indicates influences from areas similar to Srinagar and Lahore. The carving of the mythical creature in the center of the top panel is beautifully done with added scroll work details and carved animals like elephants and birds. The four legs are also beautifully carved with an almost Thai or Buramese influance. The legs support a small shelf near the bottom of the table that is also decorated with simple carving. The table is likely from the late 19th to early 20th century and was found in Northern India. (Restoration to finish and lower shelf)
