A BAMBOO DEMILUNE TABLE, YUEYAZHUO (18455)
China, Shanxi Province, c.1860′s
A dimilune (half round) table with a black lacquered, softwood top edged with a bamboo strip. The body of the table is a wide latticework apron composed of small bamboo members, in a geometrical pattern. Shanxi bamboo furniture originally had a thin layer of lacquer applied to both the top and underside for protection. This table retains much of that age-darkened coating to the bamboo. (Minor repairs to stretcher and top)
37 ½” wide, 19” deep, 33” high
