A Colonial Iron Plant Stand

A COLONIAL IRON PLANT STAND (18510)

South India,  19th century

A small iron stand with three intricately worked shelves.  Each of the three shelves are supported by three long leg supports that begin at the base with a simple foot detail and terminate at the top with a simply worked animal head.  The shelves are supported with clasps that run along the length of the legs.  The iron is well aged and a coat of wax was applied to maintain the current patina.

12 diameter, 29 high
