A SINGLE DAKR BURGUNDY / BLACK LACQUERED RECESSED-LEG BENCH (18459)
China, Shanxi Province Late 18th century
A single late 18th century yumu (northern elm) bench made in a standard recessed-leg form of construction. The top is a flush fitting floating panel within the elmwood frame. The round section legs are joined by a plain straight apron with ‘apron-head’ spandrels detailed with a thick beaded edge, the front and back legs attached by double stretchers with concealed tenons on each short side.
