Founded in 1989 by Carol and Wade Smith after a lengthy business and living experience in Asia, today the company is owned and operated by their daughter, Vanessa Smith. A NYU-trained and certified appraiser, Vanessa has traveled extensively for decades and has a passion for the cultural history of her pieces.
In 2009, C. W. Smith Collection moved to its current location on France Avenue in Minneapolis, MN. The current collection highlights the classical Northern Chinese antiquities and British, Dutch and Portuguese colonial furniture that we have been importing continuously since our doors opened. The Collection also embraces a new eclectic sensibility – blending cultures and periods to create fresh perspective where contemporary Moroccan craftsmanship sits comfortably next to two thousand year old Chinese artifacts. C. W. Smith Collection strives to provide an environment where a client can find exceptional and collectable pieces and expert advice on investing in this area.
